Frontal fibrosing alopecia
Frontal fibrosing alopecia is a term that is used to identify someone that has hair that starts off falling out in the front of their head and the recedes further back until the end result is complete baldness. You may have heard of this term before when someone mentions having a receding hairline. Frontal fibrosing alopecia is an apparent condition and in fact many women have begun to complain about coming down with the disorder shortly after entering into a menopausal state. Everyone knows pretty much what a receding hair line looks like. The hairline which is the front part of your hair that everyone sees when they look you square in the face seems to continue to slip further and further back. Many people will keep the hair that is on the sides of their head and lose the hair that is on the front of their scalp all the way to the middle of their head. In a sense frontal fibrosing alopecia almost makes the person that has the disorder appear to look like they are wearing a clowns costume. People regularly characterize the condition as clown balding or a receding hairline. For many men that are forced to go through with the disorder they don’t say anything. They basically recognize the fact that they are aging and take the hair loss with a grain of salt. However, many women are outraged by the sudden loss of their hair. There have been a plethora of scientific tests performed on women that were undergoing this particular condition and for many women the results came back that the condition was caused from a shift in their hormones. Our bodies are seen to be extremely complicating at times. It almost seems like as we all age our bodies take on a form that is all their own. Men have found it extremely easy to deal with the condition and everything that comes of it. So far there has not been a definite cure found for the condition. Doctors are diligently working to see if there is something that can be done to cause the condition to cease or make the hair re-grow as it normally would. Many people are opting to try everything that they can to get the hair back that was lost because of the condition. There are different creams as well as oral medications that can be tested on people that have frontal fibrosing alopecia, however the fact of the matter is medications will not work for everyone. If you have the extra funds available you may want to check into getting plastic surgery done in a means to replace the hair that was lost from the condition. The only downside is when or if you lose more hair from the same region another surgery will have to be preformed to replace that hair as well.

Physical therapy jokes
It sounds like a clich but laughter makes it as best medical approach. True enough, cracking physical therapy jokes to patients will brighten up their day and temporarily ignore the pain and distress they experience. Diversion their attention toward something funny or fascinating may be a strategic sense of a supplementary treatment. A lot of physical therapists are learning the craft of trying to be funny just to deliver joyful sessions to their patients. It would have been a boring session if not for the ability of physical therapists to integrate physical therapy jokes into their treatments. The physical therapist and the patient create that bond to actually pursue treatments and exercises with effectiveness. While doing so, physical therapy jokes break the ice in between exercises so that the entire therapy session doesn’t come out too serious, too hard and too lonely. Happy and funny stories spice the patient’s mood up to perform the exercises and look forward to every clinical visit. Before blurting any physical therapy joke out to your patient, you must first gain enough know-how as to what your intentions and how the jokes will benefit your patient. This is presuming that you have already established a comfortable interaction with your patient. Having the patient embrace a humorous and positive outlook will modify his attitude to become better. The therapist must not go beyond the limits and determine which physical therapy jokes are too green and inappropriate to be shared. No offense must be taken by patients; otherwise, they will lose trust and confidence in your way of treating them. To master the aspect of sharing physical therapy jokes would also need some research and practice especially for physical therapists who are not fond of doing one. Tracing back how the joke came to fame and knowing some comedians, humor styles and TV comedy shows is also wise. Filing a list of funny stories and allowing oneself to let loose is totally healthy. There are some hospital facilities that set humor interventions as manifested in humor rooms, humor video programs and humor carts used. Others get the expertise of magicians, clowns and comedians to do the tricks and funny shows themselves. The therapist can also adopt physical therapy jokes in the manner of dressing humorous item just like how Robin Williams did it in the movie Patch Adams in 1998. Physical therapy jokes are shared not only words but also actions and presentations in a healthy and safe setting. As long as any joke doesn’t offend the patient’s feelings, it will all be good.

Small pox vaccination
When one talks about vaccinations and diseases, the first thing that comes to mind is Smallpox. The Smallpox vaccination was the first vaccine to be successfully developed and used effectively against a disease. Edward Jenner developed the smallpox vaccination as early as 1796. Smallpox is human infectious disease and is caused by two forms of virus (variola major and minor). Smallpox has been affecting humans since 10,000 BC and in the 20th century, an estimate of 300-500 million deaths has been attributed to smallpox.. Methods of developing immunity to smallpox had long been in existence in Asia even in the 12th century. For example there are reports of Buddhist nuns crushing smallpox scabs into powder and having a non-infected person inhale them through the nose. This method was commonly used in India, Turkey and China by the 1700′s and even reached Europe. In the 18th century, Edward Jenner observed that milkmaids who worked in close contact with cows and contracted cowpox did not seem to be affected by smallpox. To test this theory he took the fluid from a cowpox infected maid and inoculated a young boy. 6 weeks later, the boy was exposed to smallpox virus but it did not seem to affect him. The first smallpox vaccination had been developed. In the modern age, the smallpox vaccination was developed using a weak strain of the virus called the New York City Board of Health Strain and was approved by the FDA. This smallpox vaccination was called Dryvax. The smallpox vaccination is not given in the usual way using a single hypodermic needle. Instead, a needle with 2 prongs is dipped in the vaccine and used to prick the skin several times till a few drops of blood appear. Over the following days, the point of insertion of the smallpox vaccination becomes red and blotchy, becomes a pus filled blister and drains, the blister dries and eventually the scab falls off. Following this the person gets a fever, chills and maybe swollen lymph nodes. Till the scabs fall off, the person is contagious and anyone coming in contact with him/her could contract vaccinia (but not smallpox). There are some risks involved with a smallpox vaccination, and are not recommended for those with a heart condition, pre-existing skin condition, HIV positive, those who are pregnant, children etc. Smallpox was the biggest cause of death in the 20th century. In 1967 the World Health Organisation launched a campaign in order to eradicate smallpox. Around the world smallpox vaccinations were given to the population. In 10 years, WHO was able to announce that smallpox was the first human disease to have been eradicated from the world. Today, countries like the US have stocks of smallpox vaccination enough to vaccinate all of its population in case of biological warfare.

Age-related alopecia
Japanese scientists may have been able to unlock the typical causes for age-related alopecia. Many people when they are faced with the point of losing their hair, often times deal with it. Society has come to know baldness as a means to signify that they are getting older. However, no one has to deal with losing their hair regardless of what age they are. The scientists were able to run certain tests on mice to see if they could come up with a solution to this age related dilemma, and allow people to keep their hair for elongated periods of time. Researchers have already cam to realization that the hair is maintained through something that is referred to as a cyclic process. Every piece of hair is grown from a hair follicle or the root. As many people are well aware, the hair that you actually see is actually dead. The only thing that remains alive is the root or the follicle of your hair. You can find the root of your hair by looking directly at your scalp. The root is what is underneath the layer of skin on your head. The root is what causes your hair to grow in the first place. Japanese scientists compiled a room full of mice and performed different tests on them. The first test allowed them to recognize the cause of the mice losing their hair. It appeared that after the scientists mixed together a particular chemical compound the mice began to lose their hair 11 days later. The hair loss quickly progressed over their entire bodies, until all mice were nude in appearance without one inch of fur. The mice even lost their whiskers from being tested with this particular compound. You are probably wondering what the scientists actually gave their mice patients that allowed them to lose their hair at such a rapid pace. Well, the scientists gave their mice subjects the Sox21 gene. The scientists found that the mice that had an extra layer of oily skin actually began to lose their hair at a slower rate then those who did not. Scientists came to the conclusion that there is something in this gene that causes hair loss in humans. However, we now know how it is caused but many people would love to know how to fix it. Age-related alopecia may seem like a disease that takes over your body. Men and women both experience this sudden hair loss when they make it to a mature age stature. Right now there is no cure for this baldness; there are alternatives that you can try such as hair implants and other sciences that have come out to try to make the transition as easy as possible. As far as a magic pill that you can take to turn back the hands of time, scientists are still working on that.

Why antidepressants are good
The recent few years have witnessed a sharp increase in the numbers of treatments and medicines that can be given to any disease. The advancement in the field of science and technology is just marvelous. As a result, there are cures for several diseases. Similarly, even depression has witnessed the availability of several antidepressants that can be used for curing. Today treating depression includes a mixture of medication, psychotherapy, relaxation as well as ECT. People prefer antidepressant to cure themselves from depression. There are several antidepressants that are available to treat the people. The antidepressants are prescribed depending upon the severity of the condition, symptoms and many other factors. A doctor takes a lot of care in suggesting a particular antidepressant. This is because while there are some antidepressants that are interchangeable, there are some antidepressants that cannot be interchanged. These antidepressants help in correcting the various chemical changes within the brain. The imbalances in a person’s brain are balanced by these antidepressants. There are certain side effects that are produced by antidepressants as a result of the new addition of the antidepressants to the human body. Though antidepressants do at times produce drowsiness, they are much different from sleeping pills. Antidepressants are non addictive. Unlike most other addictive medications, one does not require to increase the dosage of antidepressants that he consumes. People who suffer from depression need not continue to use antidepressants for their entire lifetime. After they are cured from depression, they can begin to withdraw from using antidepressants. Antidepressants only work if a person is suffering from depression. Antidepressants do not improve a person’s mood if he is not suffering from depression. The usage of antidepressants is quite widely spread. Though there have been quite a few questions raised on the effectiveness of antidepressants, they are still being prescribed by doctors to numerous people and people are still recovering from depression. Antidepressants are not to be prescribed for even mild and moderate cases of depression. Only if a person feels is seriously suffering from depression, these drugs are to be given otherwise they may not be that effective. A person must consult a doctor if he really requires the dosage of any antidepressant instead of just using one. It is essential to diagnose depression at a nearly stage, just like any other disease. This is because prolonged depression can lead to a person taking a fatal decision such as suicide. Early diagnosis along with effective treatment can play in the faster curing of this health condition at a very early stage.

Negative blood group
Blood groups are of four types and this is determined as positive or negative based on the rhesus systems. The presence of rhesus systems in the red blood cells is also known as antigens and the blood group are termed to be positive. In the absence of the antigens, they are considered to have negative blood group. Blood group screening is a regular and routine test done to all pregnant women. In this the blood type is defined as the absence or presence of specific substances as they are exposed on the red blood cells surface. There are 29 human blood group systems that has been accepted and recognized by the international society. The significant of these blood groups are considered to be the ABO and the Rh blood group systems. The ABO blood group defines antigens to be the significant blood group such that it can react to foreign bodies immediately. The four blood group types are A,AB, B and O. The O blood group system displays the absence of A or B. Owing to this one genes copy for the blood group from the parents in association with the presence of A or B is determined keeping the blood type of that individual. Hence, a person can be A= AO or AA, O=OO or B= BO or BB. This shows that there is all possibility to be of O blood group and have parents of A or B. but, in case both the parents are having O blood group and you have A or B, or in case one parent has AB and you do not have AB or B or A, then something is hidden from you, certainly a concealed truth. The Rhesus blood group system is complex and to make it simple the D antigen is expressed on the red blood cells. In case you have the D antigen, the person is considered as Rh positive and in the absence of it they are regarded as Rh negative. The Rh status established whether you have positive or negative blood group. Thus they are classified as A positive, A negative, O positive, O negative, AB positive, AB negative, B positive and B negative. It is found that 100% Basques and 1 % Chinese have Rh negative. If the mother has Rh negative and the baby shows Rh positive it is good and do not cause any problems to the baby. If the mother has Rh negative and the antibody screen also shows negative, then after 28 weeks another screening is done and Rh immunoglobulin is administered to avoid isoimmunization. In case, the father is also Rh negative like the mother, then there is nothing to worry.
